Telescope optics "made
in Bavaria"
Alluna Optics
There still are enterprises
from Germany which can consist of China or Taiwan with high quality in
the global market against cheap products. The highest quality is asked
particularly at optics for mirror telescopes.
The enterprise Alluna Optics
from the Bavarian Augsburg occupied with the production of high-quality
primary mirror for mirror telescopes in diameters from 400 mm up to a meter
of a niche place. The highest quality of the visual areas and acceptable
prices stands as a company philosophy right above. “Our parabolic mirrors
are mostly bought by ambitious amateur astronomers and public observatories
from the whole world”, says managing director Wolfgang Felber.
The requirements on perfect
telescope mirrors are high. Imagine a ball made of glass with a diameter
of six metres. The greatest deviation of this ball form shouldn't be any
more than some few nanometers.
These are some millionthly
millimetres! Alluna Optics manufactures main mirrors with precisions of
1/10 to over 1/20 PV wavefronts. A maximum amount of precision and long-standing
experience are required to produce parabolic mirrors of more than half
a meter of diameters in this precision.
High-quality special glass
or glass-ceramic with a low extension at temperature fluctuations is used
at the production. The mirrors are already permanently measured in
by interferometry during the production in short distances. Depending on
mirror size, up to 5000 points are taken on the complete surface and evaluated
exactly except for few nanometres. Further tests to Foucault and Ronchi
support the evaluation.
The last small corrections
up to the target parable are carried out by hand. If all quality expactations
are fulfilled to the visual area, an aluminum layer gets vaporized in the
high vacuum. The reflectivity of such an aluminum layer is 89% and can
be increased by a Multilayer method except for 96%.
The interest in high-quality
parabolic mirrors for mirror telescopes is great, delivery times must be
expected by about six months for order works. But then you hold a small
or also big, however, piece of perfection in hands.
